Album progress from Grand Atlantic and Andrew Petersen. Yes, there is some. No, you can’t hear it yet. But we can tell you about it…

Grand Atlantic are probably halfway through recording a new album, and it is sounding very impressive – more rock’n’roll perhaps than the last one, definitely more like the live show, and with the usual high standard of songwriting. They have already filmed a video for one song (Freeway) which was shot on film and looks spectacular. It probably won’t be on your TV for a while but it may leak onto the internet ;)… The album is expected to be tracked by the end of August and will be mixed by Brisbane uber-producer Magoo in September. Grand Atlantic have been invited to play some showcases in the US, Europe and the UK in October so they are frantically trying to get everything arranged in time. As soon as it is definite we’ll make an announcement…

Meanwhile, Andrew Petersen is about to resume work on his solo album. Producer Ian Thompson has been overseas for two months so Andrew has been busy writing new material and playing the occasional show. The new album is sounding very rootsy, though it has been embellished with violin, pedal steel, electric guitar and other additions – which makes for a very satisfying overall sound. We hope to release a single later in the year – once again, the tracks are being mixed by Magoo with the first sessions scheduled for late July. Andrew’s singing on this record is particularly strong, and we expect the album will remind people just why Shutterspeed were so well-loved.

We are also working on getting the complete Shutterspeed catalogue PLUS some rare & unreleased tracks available for digital download through i-Tunes, eMusic and Rhapsody. Give that a couple of months and it should be done…
