Grand Atlantic have returned from a 15-date tour US & Canada, including 4 shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas. The tour, which started in San Francisco, was extremely well-received and has resulted in substantial airplay across about 35 radio stations and syndicated shows, while the band has received extensive coverage in print and online media. They will be releasing a new 7″ vinyl split single (with LA band Sky Parade)on new label Ripple Music in July, with a return tour being planned for October. Meantime, they have embarked on a 4-week residency tour taking in Brisbane every Tuesday night, Melbourne every Wednesday night and Sydney every Thursday night in May. It’s a huge amount of travel, but it will give Australian audiences a chance to see the band in smaller venues. At the end of June they will be making their first trip to Japan, playing 4 shows (2 in Tokyo, 1 in Osaka and 1 in Matsuzaka). Negotiations are currently under way with a Japanese label to release the ‘How We Survive’ album in Japan. Watch this space for news. Upon their return in July they’ll be playing 2 shows with legendary Melbourne band Black Cab, before taking a couple of months off to write songs for a new album…

Rocketsmiths have released the first official single and video from their much-anticipated debut album. The song is called ‘Underground’, it’s a perfect slice of bratty pop-punk, and it’s getting a lot of attention. The album proper, entitled ‘The Bones’, will be released in August. Rocketsmiths have announced a 10-date East Coast tour in June, taking in 3 shows in Victoria, 4 in NSW and 3 in Queensland. The band are in terrific form, as witnessed by their support slots for US band Spoon earlier this month, and we recommend you get along to these shows…
