The amazing debut album from Rocketsmiths, ‘The Bones’, has finally been released in digital form (everywhere) and physical CD (from the band’s website at www.rocketsmiths.com). And yes, the wait was totally worth it – the album has been receiving great reviews around the country, and consistent airplay from the larger community stations. Time Off called it “…one of the finest local-level debuts you’ll hear this year” and Hotsource praised its “…a unique mash up of Clash-like punk guitar, horror-movie organ and intriguing pop vocals…”. ‘The Bones’ is a great testament to the band’s vision, and we expect great things for Rocketsmiths over the next few months. They have also announced dates in Sydney, Adelaide, Byron Bay and the album launch in Brisbane, on October 30 – complete with Halloween theme. One to mark on the calendar…and again, check the band’s website for special gig/album packages.

Meanwhile Grand Atlantic are working away on new songs for their next album, their third. Already 11 very intriguing new tracks have been sketched out, and discussions are under way with possible producers. It seems likely that they will record the new album overseas once the plan is finalised. Another US tour is being booked, for March 2011, with more cities this time around. We expec that there may be a first single from the new record out by the time they return to the US. And speaking of the US, their lovely 7″ vinyl single is available there from Ripple Music or in Australia from the band’s page. There aren’t many so if you want one get in quick…
